Content filtering defines what may be allowed or denied access. This helps to prevent misuse, abuse and any other security breaches when users access the internet. There are a lot of information that we can discover in the internet. Unfortunately, the internet also holds a lot of highly unsafe materials and inappropriate contents for a child.

In fact, there are approximately 30,000 pornographic links created daily and nearly 30% of young people have been exposed to unwanted sexual comments online. Therefore, it is necessary to protect children from unwanted and improper contents when they are online.

Most of parents in the world relay on web filtering to protect their children from adult contents sites and exposes them to a world of wonderland. However web filters are not safe enough in protecting our children whilst they are online.

It is more needs to be done if parents want to make sure their children’s safety. Then talk to the children about their online activities and advise them how to remain safe while online chat.

Tell to the children, don’t use the personal information (name, address, phone numbers, pictures or email address) to people you don’t know while you are online chat.

It is very important to speak to your children about the dangers of online communication. If they ever need to come near you about bad experience that they may meet whilst being online, you are there for them.
